New Year's Eve in Rome is one of those situations where transport is the main problem. Taxis are scarce: the available ones get booked weeks ahead or charge free night/holiday rates. Ride-hailing apps activate surge pricing. Public transport reduces or stops after midnight in restricted zones. Anyone who hasn't organised transport in advance ends up walking in the cold — or queuing for an hour for a taxi.
The simple solution: a private driver booked for the entire evening.
Concert at Circo Massimo The City of Rome organises the grand New Year's Eve concert at Circo Massimo every year, with national and international artists and the official countdown. The area draws hundreds of thousands of people. Traffic in the area is closed from around 18:00.
Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona Traditional gathering points with music, stalls and spontaneous celebrations. Walkable from the centre but packed with people after 23:00.
Trevi Fountain The night's photographic checkpoint: crowded but reachable. With a driver, you stop for a few minutes and move on — without having to fight your way back through the crowd.
Restaurants Restaurants in the historic centre offer fixed New Year's Eve menus from October onwards. Book months in advance, especially in Trastevere and the Jewish Ghetto.
How it works:
- Pick-up at your hotel or restaurant at the agreed time (usually 20:00–21:00)
- Transfer to dinner, if you're not already there
- After dinner: the driver takes you towards the midnight celebrations — Circo Massimo, Piazza del Popolo, or wherever you prefer
- After midnight: free tour of the fountains, photo stops, a toast on the move
- Return to the hotel when you're ready — 02:00, 03:00, whenever
The driver knows Rome on New Year's Eve: which streets are closed, where you can get close to the events, how to return without getting stuck in traffic.

| Time | Activity | |---|---| | 20:30 | Hotel pick-up, transfer to restaurant | | 21:00–23:30 | Dinner (booked separately) | | 23:45 | Transfer to Circo Massimo or Piazza del Popolo | | 00:00 | Countdown and celebrations | | 00:30–01:30 | Trevi Fountain → Pantheon → Piazza Navona tour | | 01:30–02:00 | Return to hotel |
Couple variant: dinner in Trastevere, midnight at the Gianicolo terrace (panoramic view over all of Rome lit up), Trevi Fountain, return.
Group variant: van for up to 7 people, shared evening with friends, total flexibility on the itinerary.
The price includes:
- Dedicated driver for the entire evening (from approximately 20:00 until return)
- No night, holiday or traffic surcharges
- Flexibility on the evening itinerary
- ZTL access included — the driver can enter Rome's restricted traffic zones
For groups: with a 7-person van, the per-head cost (€380 ÷ 7 = ~€54) is less than a New Year's Eve taxi for two.

Give the itinerary in advance. The more details you give the driver — restaurant address, expected end-of-dinner time, preferred midnight event — the better. The driver adapts, but a base plan helps.
ZTL and closed streets. The historic centre on 31 December is full of closed streets, active ZTLs and temporary pedestrian zones. An NCC driver with ZTL permits can get much closer than a regular taxi.
Drinks. With a driver, nobody has to drive. Celebrating without thinking about the journey back is part of the service.
International guests. If you have friends or family visiting from abroad, the driver speaks English — helpful for foreign tourists who don't know Rome at night.
