The distance between Fiumicino Airport and Civitavecchia Port is approximately 80 km. The route runs mainly on the A12 motorway (Civitavecchia–Rome), heading north. Under normal conditions the journey takes 55–70 minutes. With traffic during peak periods — or in the event of incidents on the A12, which can cause significant queues — times can reach 80–90 minutes.
Those whose ship sails in the afternoon and who land in the morning do not always have the margin they think. Calculating times carefully, including the exit from the airport with luggage, is essential.
There is no direct rail link between Fiumicino Airport and Civitavecchia. The train journey requires:
- FL1 or Leonardo Express from Fiumicino to Roma Ostiense / Termini (32 minutes, every 15–30 min)
- Regional train from Roma Termini to Civitavecchia (approximately 70 minutes, every 30–60 min)
Total door-to-door time: 2–2.5 hours, not counting waiting times between connections, carrying luggage between platforms and the journey from Civitavecchia station to the port (approximately 15 minutes on foot or 5 by local taxi).
The train is acceptable for those with plenty of time before boarding. It is not appropriate if you land in the morning and the ship sails in the early afternoon.
Shuttle bus
Some shared shuttles exist on this route, but times are not guaranteed and depend on the number of stops and how full the vehicle is. For those with a cruise to catch, this variable is not manageable.
Taxi
Taxis at Fiumicino do not have a fixed fare to Civitavecchia. The estimated metered cost ranges from €120 to €180 depending on traffic — and on busy days at the airport, available taxis can be scarce at the arrivals exit.
Cruise lines close check-in 90 minutes before departure, sometimes 2 hours. The ship sails on schedule. It waits for no one.
The real risks of DIY planning on this route:
- Delayed flight: if the aircraft lands 45 minutes late and you have booked a taxi for a fixed time, the taxi may no longer be available
- Unpredictable A12 traffic: on weekends and days with major embarkations, the A12 can be congested even at apparently safe times
- Airport exit times: baggage claim, customs, terminal exit — at an airport as large as Fiumicino, this can take 30–45 minutes after landing
- Train connections: missing the connection at Roma Termini can push back arrival at Civitavecchia by an hour
The service includes:
- Real-time flight monitoring: the driver follows the updated flight schedule. If the aircraft lands late, the driver adjusts the waiting time and does not leave without you. Simply provide the flight number and airline at booking.
- Airport welcome: the driver waits at the arrivals exit with a name board. No taxi queues, no phone calls, no searching for the vehicle with luggage in hand.
- Vehicle: luxury sedan saloon for groups of up to 4. For groups of up to 7, luxury van at the same price.
- Direct route: no intermediate stops, no other passengers on board. You go directly to Civitavecchia Port, to the embarkation terminal indicated by the cruise line.
- Margin planning: on request, we plan the optimal pick-up time together based on the flight schedule and ship check-in closure.
You do not need to know the exact landing time at the time of booking: flight monitoring automatically updates the driver's schedule on the day. In the event of delays exceeding 60 minutes, we will contact you directly.
The NCC transfer with a fixed price eliminates every variable: a dedicated driver who waits even if the flight is delayed, a luxury vehicle vehicle, a direct route to the port, €160 fixed per vehicle with no supplements.
