The Amalfi Coast is not reachable by train. The journey from Rome requires 2 changes and a SITA bus on Italy's most winding road.
The closest station is Salerno or Vietri sul Mare. From there, the SITA bus with luggage on winding roads is very inconvenient. A private transfer is the only true door-to-door solution.

No. There is no train station in Positano or Amalfi. The closest station is Salerno or Vietri sul Mare. From there you would need the SITA bus on the SS163 — with luggage on those bends it's very uncomfortable. Private transfer is the only comfortable door-to-door solution.
On average 3 hours 30 minutes: around 2h30 to Salerno via motorway, then 45–60 minutes on the Amalfi Coast SS163. In July–August the SS163 can be congested; your driver optimises the route in real time.
