The difference compared to an organised group tour is clear: no coach with 40 strangers, no rigid timetable, no guide rushing ahead. The pace is yours. If you are wondering whether an NCC service makes sense for you in terms of value, read the guide to when a private driver in Rome is worth it.

| Time | Activity | |---|---| | 09:00–11:00 | Colosseum and Roman Forum | | 11:00–12:30 | Pantheon and Piazza Navona | | 12:30–13:30 | Lunch in the historic centre | | 13:30–17:00 | Vatican: Museums, Sistine Chapel, Basilica | | 17:00–17:30 | Trevi Fountain | | 17:30–19:00 | Trastevere (walk, aperitivo) | | 19:00 | Return or free dinner |

This schedule is easily adapted: later start, preferred sites, longer lunch breaks, additional visits. The driver is available throughout and stays nearby — reachable at any moment.

The visit takes 60–90 minutes. The arena, the arches, the hypogeum — the structure is enormous but reads clearly even without a guide, especially with the audio guide included in the plus ticket. The Colosseum is not just a photo opportunity: it is worth lingering.

Just outside begins the Roman Forum: the central axis of ancient Rome, walkable along Via Sacra between triumphal arches and temple remains. A quick read takes 30–40 minutes; the Palatine Hill, home to the imperial palaces, is included in the ticket but can be skipped if the schedule is tight.

The driver waits in the authorised parking area and accompanies the group to the entrance.

The Pantheon — built in 125 AD under Hadrian — is the best-preserved monument of Roman antiquity. The unreinforced concrete dome still has its original shape; the oculus at the top fills the interior with light that shifts with the sun. Entrance costs €5. Allow 20–30 minutes: this is not a site to rush through but to absorb in silence.

Five minutes' walk away opens Piazza Navona: three Bernini fountains, Rome's most elegant urban space, no ticket needed. It is the perfect place for a coffee before lunch — allow 20 minutes for a stroll and photographs.

The route we recommend:

  1. Gallery of Maps and Raphael Rooms — the least crowded part of the Museums, visually stunning (40 min)
  2. Sistine Chapel — silence required, photography forbidden, the impact is inevitable. Michelangelo worked on the ceiling for four years lying on scaffolding. The result is one of the densest works in art history (20–30 min)
  3. St Peter's Basilica — free, accessible directly from the Museums. Michelangelo's Pietà, the world's largest nave, the dome. Allow 60 min for an unhurried visit

Exiting the Basilica: St Peter's Square, Rome's most photographed spot. Ten minutes for photos and then you move on.

From the Trevi Fountain to Trastevere is another 10 minutes. The neighbourhood is the most authentic side of Rome remaining in the centre: narrow cobblestone streets, ochre-coloured buildings, trattorias with tables outside. In the aperitivo hour the neighbourhood fills with Romans, not only tourists.

You stroll, you watch, you choose where to stop for a meal or a drink. The driver remains available for the return whenever the group is ready.

Frequently asked questions

Our Rome tour with a private driver starts from €300 per vehicle (up to 4 people), full day. The price includes all city transfers in a luxury vehicle saloon, a dedicated driver for the entire duration and no extra charges for traffic or waiting time. For groups of up to 7 people, we use a luxury van at the same price.

The standard itinerary covers the Colosseum and Roman Forum (morning), Pantheon and Piazza Navona (late morning), Vatican with Museums and St Peter's Basilica (afternoon), Trevi Fountain and Trastevere (evening). Entrance tickets are not included and we recommend booking in advance. The driver handles all transfers between sites.

Yes, this is essential. In high season (April–October) queues at the box office exceed 2 hours for both sites. Colosseum tickets can be booked at coopculture.it and Vatican Museums tickets at museivaticani.va. We recommend purchasing at least 1–2 weeks ahead. Entrance to St Peter's Basilica and Piazza Navona is free.

Yes. With a private driver there is no rushing, no waiting at bus stops and no dragging backpacks on the underground. The vehicle is available at any moment for breaks, spontaneous stops or an early return. For families with young children, we can adapt the itinerary on request, reducing the number of sites and adding open spaces such as Villa Borghese or Pincio.

Absolutely. We offer a tailored service: if you have already visited the Colosseum or prefer to focus on the Vatican and historic neighbourhoods, we can reorganise the plan. Simply tell us your preferences when booking. The driver knows the city thoroughly and can suggest alternatives based on your group's specific interests.
